#NamecardYourStory Sabrina Wang
1. Who are you, and what have you been doing ?
My name is Sabrina Wang, I’m the founder of SAUCEink, once just a digital style magazine,
now (or rather since late February) backed with a full fledged social commerce platform. I’m
spending almost every waking hour just finding means and ways to improve the system and
provide an alternative means for merchants and consumers to share, interact and trade.
2. What’s your occupation?
Apparently, my job is called “an Entrepreneur”. Basically we entrepreneurs aim to reinvent
how the world works, making it better than before, based on our perspective. Haha.
Jokes aside, I really love what I do; constantly innovating, finding means and ways to improve
the platform, gather more users, interact and share content, and striving to find a more
affordable means for merchants/brand owners/businesses to expand… not just their reach but
also increase their business revenue.
It’s an ambitious dream, but thankfully I have a supportive team that backs me on this pursue
to making a better tomorrow.
3. What is the story that you would like to share most with others ?
This is a tough one, there’s so many stories I’ve come by during this journey. I guess one of
the most interesting stories is probably, how my current team came together.
I met our “godfather” a couple of years back. My then partner wanted to get me to learn the art
of sales from him, or rather, get him to help me with doing sales. But for some reason, it didn’t
materialise.
After almost 3 years of basically no contact, through a supposed investor… well… he’s now
SAUCEink’s “godfather”. It’s a lot more interesting in my head, I suppose.
One person can actually change the whole mechanics of things. His participation garners
participations of many others. Before we knew it, we were in a new office, with a bigger and
stronger team… and here we are. Well, not too far from a month plus ago, but it’s getting
better day after day.
4. What makes you happy & why?
Seeing my SAUCEink grow day after day… that makes me happy! A month or so back, the
whole project nearly went up in flames. I watched as my team dispersed, the vision altered… I
almost gave up. When finally, everything was returned back to its original state, I suddenly felt
this rush of joy and hopefulness return.
Watching as people started joining us, as the team grew, and so rapidly… that brings a smile
across my face. Haha, and I always tell people how I don’t like humans. Oxymoron.
5. What do you look forward to everyday?
Everyday I look forward to… well… seeing the community grow. Seeing the team working
together to making this project a success. No one person can rule the world alone, we need
each other to make the world run.
6. What are you looking forward to this year?
There’s a lot to look forward to this year! First, Mother’s Day event at OSG Bar. We’re working
with a few partner and sponsors for this. Then there’s the Global Wellness Day that’s
happening on June 11th with 7 continents, 83 countries participating; and we’re partnering
Resort World Sentosa for the very first time. I have all but high hopes for this, and the team
has Melissa Fann, our awesome COO to thank for making this possible.
7. What is the best advice you have ever received, and what was the worst?
“Put your money where your mouth is.” If someone really sees value in what you’re doing,
they won’t just say it, they’ll seal it with a deal and actually put cash down to secure it. All talk
is no talk.
Well, it’s also money oriented to some extent. I was told to focus entirely on the money, almost
overlooking the whole point of why I’m doing this to begin with. While money is important, the
passion adds motivations which gives you extraordinary drive. Without the vision… money is
just… well… money. You won’t feel much pride getting that first dollar, if and when you get it.
8. What would be your best advice for others?
Live your life to the fullest. It might sound cliché but it’s really a matter of fact. The day cannot
be repeated. You live it once, and that’s it. If you’re going to live in regret… you haven’t
actually lived at all. #foodforthought
9. How do people contact you if they would like to engage your services or ask you some
questions?
Well, I’ll be involved in a one-day Women Mastermind Hands-on Workshop & Study Course
this coming May, if you’re thinking of starting a business, you should quickly grab your tickets
for this talk: http://www.eventbrite.com/e/happy-business-happy-life-1-day-women-
mastermind-tickets-24168320096?aff=sabrinawang&afu=112284949933
That aside, you have to register www.sauceink.com/register and you can easily find me on the
platform.
I’m on most social media platforms, you can search for Sabrina Wang or PRINCESSA
(previously my pen name, now my fashion label). But I’d still prefer to be stalked on
SAUCEink, after all, what better social media platform to stalk me at than my very own, right?
